by Adam Strong in Categories: Events

leadsconJay Weintraub, who formerly worked for Advertising.com and Oversee.net, has unveiled his newest venture, LeadsCon. The 3 day conference and expo takes place at the Palms in Las Vegas, April 2-4.

The conference is only $295 if you register before Febuary 15th (HURRY!) and we’ve got a special deal for our readers! Register today and get 25% off admission

Jay knows the domain space and many of the players in the space and he’s an extremely well-connected guy in the lead generation space. I had a chance to catch-up with Jay and ask him a few questions about the conference to shed some light on what it’s about and why domainers might find the show worth attending. This is a “must-go” show for me, and I believe it will appeal to other domain owners as well.

Follow the continue link below to read more in our interview with Jay.

Moniker Pubcon 2007 Auction Results

by Adam Strong in Categories: Events

pubconToday’s Moniker.com Pubcon Live Domain Auction ended with Monte Cahn reporting at the end of the event a sales volume of over $325,000. Many of the domains were passed but the ones with No Reserve prices received a lot of bidding. Grandpa.com was the top sale at $55,000 and was sold after being brought back up on the block a second time. Many of the lower priced domains were also brought back for a second time with No Reserve price and sold on the second attempt.

Domain Name News was unable to be in attendance at the live event, so we tuned in to the broadcast on WebmasterRadio.fm. While listening, it seemed there was one bidder who was dominating. The auction was interrupted a few times to run commercials, so we were unable to compile a complete list. By our count however, bidder #417 was top bidder on over 16 domains and spent over $50,000. We were able to confirm from an attendee that the bidder was a representative who works for Oversee.net and likely bidding on behalf of the company.  A partial list of the domains sold can be seen at Moniker’s site or after the jump. We expect the entire list from Moniker will be published soon. Silent auction bidding is happening now and ends December 13th.

DomainFest announces keynote speakers John Batelle and Peter Hillary

by Frank Michlick in Categories: Events, News

Los Angeles, CA ( November 20, 2007) - DomainSponsor(tm), the domain monetization business of Oversee.net, today announced that John Battelle, an Internet visionary and best selling author, and Peter Hillary, son of Sir Edmond Hillary and world-class adventurer, will be keynote speakers at the second annual DOMAINfest(tm) Global event scheduled for January 21-23, 2008 in Hollywood, California.

John Battelle is the best selling author of The Search: How Google and Its Rivals Rewrote the Rules of Business and Transformed Our Culture and a co-founding editor of Wired Magazine. He is an acclaimed thought leader on the tech-driven transformation of business, the economy, and culture. He is also a founder and Executive Producer of the Web 2.0 and Foursquare conferences. Most recently, Battelle founded and serves as CEO for Federated Media.

Peter Hillary has achieved two summits of Mount Everest and has more than 25 years of experience in extreme risk environments. Carrying on his father’s spirit of adventure, he has completed 36 other mountaineering expeditions, was involved in the development of a new route across Antarctica to the South Pole, and was the first to have traversed the length of the Himalayas.

In commenting on DOMAINfest’s keynote speakers, Lawrence Ng, Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder of Oversee.net said, “We want our publisher clients to have the best context for the search industry and there is no one better than John Battelle to provide that. When it comes to risk taking and the entrepreneurial spirit that defines our day-to-day accomplishments, only a Peter Hillary could give us that perspective. We are excited and honored to have both of them join us.”

DOMAINfest will also feature Frank Schilling, one of the world’s most famous domainers, to host the conference’s first Domainer Town Hall. This, coupled with an agenda filled with new content - segmented by experience level - and quality learning and networking opportunities, makes for an exceptional event.
