Rick Latona launches new ccTLD forum

by Frank Michlick in Categories: ccTLDs

Screenshot of the ForumRick Latona is launching a new domain forum focussed on ccTLDs today, further solidifying his commitment to the ccTLD space. As whois history reveals, the domain name used for the forum was previously owned by Frank Schilling’s NAMedia, a company known to barely ever sell domain names. The forum is sorted by ccTLDs so everybody can discus their favorite country domain.

Rick will also be hosting the Targeted T.R.A.F.F.I.C. ccTLDs conference, which will be held right in the center of Amsterdam, The Netherlands from June 1st to 4th, 2009.

It is somehwat ironic though that the site is launched under a “.com” domain :)

Do u guys think frank sold rick the name?
I don’t think so…probably made some kind of agreement or just gave rick the name for free since he will put the name to good use to benefit the domain industry.

I thought it ironic initially that it was a .com, but with so many country codes, which one would you use? In this case, a .com makes sense IMO

It’s kind of unrealistic for Rick to purchase the domain in all ccTLDs, Gary, I agree :)

Anunt: Most likely we’ll never know for sure.

Nice idea, though the banner ad for TRAFFIC on EVERY SINGLE member post is really annoying and putting me off the site.

Congratulations! Once again Mr. Latona is promoting the industry in a positive, proactive way.
Thanks Rick!

Michele, eventually, each forum will have its own individual sponsor. One for .fr, one for .de, etc. Then you can be annoyed by other peoples ads. The good news is that we won’t be having ads anywhere else so it won’t be too invasive.

March 9, 2009 @ 9:46 pm EDT

If you were running banner ads all over the place it wouldn’t bother me, but the ad on the postbit I find incredibly invasive and also misleading. It makes it look like normal members are in some way connected to your company

Well, the intention is to make the best use of space and make sure people see the ads without the ads getting in the way of the content. I think we’ve accomplished that.

Anyone who surfs the site will realize the ads have no affiliation with the people posting.

We’ll have to agree to disagree.

I think they’re invasive – you don’t

Great job Rick, just what is needed for the ccTld market I think.

In regards to people complaining about where your ads go on YOUR forum! well guess what people its Ricks website, his time, his effort and his money so if he wants to put ads in the middle of the posts then its his choice.

People who are focused on the content of the website won’t even notice the ads (I had been on the site a few times and the ads did not even register to me as I was to busy reading what folks were saying)

If you don’t like the show, change the channel!

Otherwise participate on the site in a useful way and get on with it.

Have a nice day!

Congratulations Rick! Though you might want to change the flag for Germany in the “Country Specific Forum” section, the one for .de section is that of Denmark (.dk)

yeah, the flag mistake was stupid and is being fixed immediately.
