Marchex to Discontinue their Domain Parking Program

Marchex operated a domain parking program through their MDNH subsidary  by the name of Marchex Sitebox. The program started in 2006 and is now being shut down as of May 1st, 2012 according to an email sent out today by the company. The website has not been updated at this time, however the application to join the program links to an error page.

Netflix buys DVD.com for an undisclosed sum

Judging by the current redirect of DVD.com to a netflix subdomain (resulting in an error page though), Netflix bought DVD.com with the help of Mark Monitor. The domain is registered at Network Solutions with DNStinations information since yesteday, which is used by Mark Moniker as a proxy service. DNW was able to confirm the purchase with the buyer.

Early Bird Registration for San Diego Domain Boot Camp ends today

Early bird registration at a reduced rate of $997 for  Domain Boot Camp which will be held in San Diego from May 4th to May 6th by Domainate co-founders Sharon Hayes and Steve Jones. As of tomorrow prices will go up by $300 to $1,297.

Domain Boot Camp is an intensive two-day workshop offered by Sharon Hayes and Steve Jones of Domainate.com. These workshops are designed to take you from being a domain novice to someone ready to make it to the top of this big money industry. While most domain traders sell a dozen or so domains a year or a month, Sharon and Steve routinely sell dozens of domains per day. Combined, the two have been responsible for the sales of over 16,000 domains as of early 2012. (This excludes bulk sales!)

The agenda includes sessions on using social media to sell domains, an introduction to the domains, domain valuations, tools, monetization, turning a sale into ongoing revenue and more.

Debra Domeyer named CEO of Oversee.net, Scott Morrow to leave the company

According to a press release just issued by Oversee.net, Scott Morrow left the company and Debra Domeyer was named CEO. Scott Morrow and Debra Domeyer were just named co-CEOs on January 30th of this year. Debra was CTO of Oversee.net since 2008. According to the press release Scott Morrow “has decided to leave the company to pursue other interests.” Just at the DOMAINfest Global in Santa Monica, which ended February 2nd the two were introduced to the press as co-CEOs.
