Sucks for the employees and Policing it will be a pain. I wonder how many Godaddy employees know how to make serious money on domains and just leave Godaddy... Thanks for the article

Thanks for the site... I stop by a lot. I'm writing today to mention that ICANN is currently accepting public comments about the registrar accreditation agreement. While blogging and commenting on blogs is an excellent way for us to learn and share information, commenting directly to ICANN can have a much greater impact - especially if numbers are strong. (Last year I think there were only 53 comments.) Anyway, comments are accepted by email, so you have to send it to raa-consultation@icann.org and then they send you a confirmation to verify it. Once you verify it, your comment will be visible here:

http://forum.icann.org/lists/raa-consultation

And on a related note... you can always file an ICANN complaint here:

https://omb.icann.org/portal/complaint.php

Personally, I haven't had much success with their complaint process, but it is important to go through the motions so they can't claim in their annual reports that there were no complaints that weren't unresolved.

Okay then; be well and keep your eyes on the prize!

I'd feel better if not only GD employees but their family and associates as well were prohibited. Even better would be complete cessation of the "Domain Aftermarket" for expiring domains. I know this (registrars glomming onto the most marketable names and holding them for themselves) is an ICANN issue, but avoiding even the appearance of impropriety should be your top concern. If a registrar is to be seen as impartial, the registrar needs to not compete against their customers. To do otherwise may make you rich (a 'la microsoft), but fails the sniff test badly.

Whoa Team Angry!!!

I thought I was the wasp nest that got hit by the baseball! You have some serious backstory to tell... I'd bet that more than 1000 domain investors would love to read more details about your "facts" on a blog post.

I think a lot of people respect Adam, and love DNForum, but have questioned why he has allowed, as GoDaddy's VP of Aftermarket Sales, the GD tricky "ICANN UPDATE" emails just a month before GD domains expire, and then prevent the domains from being transferred if you change ONE CHARACTER in the whois of the domain.

Even ICANN got "involved" (giggle giggle) and announced they would prevent this activity. However, to date, GD is still preventing anyone from transferring out a domain with the whois changed even slightly.

See my blog at http://www.successclick.com

This story isn't going to go away anytime soon, unless somebody slips a few bills into the proper pockets of those who can report the real story.

Nice article, Adam. I'm impressed at the size of the eggs it takes to post this story.
