HP To Offer Digital.com For Sale at DOMAINfest Prague

Computer Giant Hewlett-Packard (HP) will make the domain Digital.com available for auction at the DOMAINfest Europe, which will be held in Prague October 5-7, 2011. The live auction takes place on October 6th at 6pm ET and is also accessible to online remote bidders. Other names featured in the auction are:

The domain digital.com used to be owned by Digital, a Unix company that was later purchased by Compaq, which was in turn bought by HP.

The Moniker and SnapNames three-phase auction features top domain names for online and live bidding. With nearly 200 million domain names registered worldwide, the pool of available quality keyword domains is now mainly available through the domain name aftermarket led by Moniker.com and SnapNames.com.

Three-Phase Auction Schedule
Live Auction Pre-Bidding is available now and ends on Tuesday, October 5, 2010, at 6:00 p.m. US Eastern time. Pre-bidding is available online. Each name’s highest pre-bid will automatically transfer to the live auction for in-room and online bidding completion.
The Moniker and SnapNames Live Auction will be held at the Intercontinental Hotel in Prague on Wednesday, October 6, from 4 p.m.-7 p.m. local time, 10 a.m.–1 p.m. US Eastern time.

Registered DOMAINfest attendees are automatically eligible to attend the private live auction. Bidders not in the room for the auction can place bids online through SnapNames Live®. Interested bidders may also submit an absentee bid form to the auctioneer or sign up for telephone proxy bidding. Absentee bids may also be placed by contacting sales@moniker.com.

The Extended Auction immediately follows the live auction. Moniker and SnapNames will host an extended online auction that will run for a full week, starting October 6 and ending October 13, 2010, at 9:15 p.m. local time, 3:15 p.m. US Eastern time.

Some fantastic names here. I think its so stupid hp would want to sell digital.com, considering they are making money and do not have to sell any assets.
