Targeted TRAFFIC ccTLDs extended auction results
The extended Targeted TRAFFIC ccTLD auction by RickLatona.com ended yesterday and yielded another 75,501 Euros (appx. 105,000 USD) from the sales of 28 domains. The pair of Blackjack.co.za and Casinos.co.za yielded the highest price with a total 35,000 Euros (appx. 48,600 USD). All in all for Rick’s first pure ccTLD live and extended auction this actually didn’t go too badly. It is however important to note that just like many of the attendees I noticed that some of the domains in the auction should have been verified with the help of a native speaker, as for example some of the German domains may make sense when you translate them, but yet will not make sense in German since the terms are just not used the same way, for example “FreieKreditAuskunft.de” (directly translates into Free Credit Report, but credit reports work differently in Germany than they do in the US). Find the full list of domains sold in the silent auction after the jump.

It is also interesting to note that all but one of those sales was for the reserve price. I was in the bidding for(and bailed) on Publish.in (200 euro reserve–sold for 700) and up until about 4 min to go, only 5 lots had any bids so it did see some action at the end.

One other thing people need to learn about ccTLDs, apart from the stated phrase translations, is national spellings. Jewelers.co.uk is not worth reg fee as us British spell it jewellers (and jewellery). Somebody’s just wasted $3,600 there. Oh well…
