Yes what me an American? :)

My site is there - iBegin.com. We originally were always going to be Canadian only, and for the first 15 months we were (Toronto and Ottawa). Yet we still opted for a .com

Namer, I am actually located in the Greater Toronto Area and Ahmed lived here as well.

Sure you can still complete globally, even when using a ccTLD as your main domain name. But the trend in most countries (apart from the US where .COM is more popular than the ccTLD) seems to be more and more towards having the ccTLD of where your customers reside. I cannot imagine a .CA getting popular in German for example without owning the .DE, unless you're in tourism.

Branding is one thing, the other thing is what the users are used to.

so you guys don't believe that companies powered by .ca can compete globally when coupled with a great name? why so little faith? sedo launched from sedo.de , they eventually acquired the .com, but we are talking about starting out.

Right Frank - but ComScore's numbers are purely for canadian audience, and just one with .ca cracked that.

A lot of Canadian startups target the US (or a global market) more so than Canada itself, thus .COM seems a smarter choice of a TLD for those.

Adams budget for quality content finally made it into the six figures. I am so tired of reading those long winded stories by Miguel. He writes as though Professor Strong made it a requirement for his midterm paper to be 30 pages long. Now Ahmed... "Ahmed the Man" Short and sweet. To the point. I don't need to get another cup of orange juice or print it out and take it to the thrown to finish. What a pleasure it is not to have to scroll down. Plus I learned a ton! Man I thought .CA represented California. I was under the impression Kevin cut a deal with Schwarzenegger to get the rights to dot ca. For this valuable clarification, Ahmed I would like to say "thank you" You too Adam, "thank you" for generating enough revenue to pull in pulitzer level writers such as Ahmed. This is how every fourth of july should be kicked off.
