Mark Monitor Stealth Unit buys Lync.com for Microsoft

Registrar Mark Monitor acquired the domain name Lync.com through a stealth entity (“Name Advisers“) on behalf of Microsoft, as evidenced by recent whois changes. Lync is the name of Microsoft’s latest “unified communications” product. The Name Advisers’ site states: “Name Advisers provides product branding and domains services to the small business market.” I’m not quite sure if Microsoft counts as Small Business ;-)

    NEVER, EVER sell domain names for less than they are worth. These sleazy “stealtj” purchasers are all over the place. NEVER dump a domain name to some “I am just a kid in college with no money and tons of bills….” whatever. Not saying this happened here but I personally get way too many of those.

    Because collecting domain names is such hard work, right? If you’re dumb enough to not do research on the worth of an item that you plan to sell, you deserve to get less.

    Besides, the person that is buying something should not effect how much it is actually worth.

    Yeah, it should definitely take more than just some “college kid” line to get you to let a valuable domain name go.
