National A1 Sells Poker.org for $1 million
As reported earlier on TechCrunch , National A1 Advertising has sold the domain Poker.org for $1 million to poker company PokerCompany.com . The transaction is cited as the highest recorded .org sale price. PokerCompany.com runs a portfolio of other non-.com domains including Craps.net, BlackJack.org and RakeBack.org .
This is a great sale and shows the value of a category killer keyword domain may be in it’s ability to rank well in a category, not just in it’s extension. DNN predicts that there’ll be a resurgence in speculation in alternate extensions like .net and .org and that the domain blogs and forums will be buzzing on this story for awhile.

I bought craps.net back in 2006 for only $10k and re-sold it within a month for only $15k. I should have kept it…damn!!!

Great sale indeed and also good news for holders of premium keyword domains in other extensions than .com. It’s about time the major price gap between .com’s and other gTLDs is narrowed.

Considering how much they pay for whatever they buy they have to get $1M.

I have always been a big fan of .ORG. Not sure if it is still true or not, but Google was giving preferential treatment in ranking to .ORG domains. Although I found that only applied if your website did not have banner advertising or what appeared to be “Commercial” elements.
I guess this bodes well for my .ORG domains like: OverUnder.org :-)
I am particularly fond of .ORG domains which are GEO related (City names).
