Domain Roundtable Traffic

by Adam Strong in Categories: Events

constructionConfused by the title? No. Rick Schwartz and Jay Westerdal haven’t collaborated to create a new event. Read on !

Domain Roundtable takes place in Seattle, August 13- 15 and I caught a helpful bit of info about Seattle over at that I thought would be worth sharing. Since I-5 is under heavy construction, travel from the airport to the hotel will likely be a major pain in the butt. If you still haven’t booked your flight or you can change it, I might suggest a flight later in the day. You may also be well advised to bring an extra $50 for the cab ride (just in case) and a book to read, like the one I’m reading now (thanks Richard). I’m arriving late Sunday if anyone wants to sit in traffic with me :)

I am thinking Highway 99 is going to be fast. That goes directly from the Airport to Seattle, about 15 minutes.

This is mostly impacting commuter traffic locally, but should not be too terribly problematic for conference attendees. Not saying it won’t cause delays for travellers, but this is not worth missing the event to avoid a small amount of traffic.

Apparently the I5 closure is getting a lot of press, but the impact really only should mean to budget an extra 30-45 minutes more than you typically would for your return flights because the trip to the airport from downtown might be slightly longer.

Coming from the Seatac airport:
Tell your cab driver to use 518 to the 509 to the 99, and that’s far faster and probably less expensive for a cab fare.

Heading to the Airport from downtown:
Tell your cab driver to take the 509 south, you’ll shave about 5-10 minutes off of the trip.

Thanks to the local J’s for their suggestions. Of course this should not keep you from attending, after all you would otherwise miss Adam and myself speaking at DRT.

Looking forward to seeing everybody there,

Right on Frank. there’s nothing about NOT going to DRT in the post, that’d be stupid. . . .Go ! Go ! Go but be prepared. :)

You can sell Lemonade on the back streets. Or sell newspapers on the Highway if it is a ‘Parking Lot’.
