eNom introduces whois business listings and directory site
After Network Solutions introduced enhanced whois listings a little more than a year, eNom introduced a similar service today in an email going to registrants. The charge for the service is $20 per year and apparently the service also offers “featured listings” on the directory site, which is currently marked as a “private beta”.
According to the promotional email the listing helps to:
- Promote critical details about your business through your domain registration information–searched by millions of consumers through eNom, other domain registrars, and several search engine web crawlers.
- Add your Business Listing in up to 5 separate categories located on the Whois Business Listings directory, www.whoisbusinesslisting.com.
- Increase your online visibility through major search engines.

All companies this days are trying to squeeze out additional income in some pretty unique ways… Some do it wisely… Some like Tucows aren’t thinking long term. Not sure what eNom is trying to do with this service but it will probably never take off. Props for at least trying……
