ICANN Further Delays .XXX Decision

by Frank Michlick in Categories: Up to the Minute

In today’s ICANN board meeting at the 37th ICANN meeting held in Nairobi, Kenya, the board postponed a decision regarding the .XXX sTLD application and directed to solicit public comment for this application within 14 days with a comment period of no less than 45 days, allowing the board to reconsider this issue at the 38th ICANN meeting in Brussels. ICANN has to reconsider the issue after their rejection of the application was reviewed by an independent panel.

Isn’t this a no brainer? This should have been done on day one so that we stop running into porn everywhere we surf.

It is especially embarrassing during presentations.

ICANN should however allow all .com owners a window to buy the .xxx version of their name before landrush. This way every adult company can buy their name before regulators force these sites to be under this domain.

I don’t think that decision is ICANN’s to make.

But .xxx has already made that decision, IIRC.

I think, ICANN should do it asap. .XXX is a P.O.BOX for porn related industry. Let’s keep rubbish in a rubbish bin – .XXX

I agree.

Let’s take it one step further. All religious sites should be segregated into .rel
