Law Firm Becomes ICANN Accredited Registrar

by Frank Michlick in Categories: Registrars, Up to the Minute

[Ed. Updated – Hagon Lovells is not the first law firm to gain an ICANN accreditation]

According to a post by World Trademark Review Hogan Lovells is the first law firm to obtain an ICANN Accreditation, however Ladas actually was accredited much earlier. The company intends the new registrar to help their clients register domain names, for example in the sunrise periods for new TLDs.

DNN was not yet able to locate the company’s public registrar site required website, as their link on the ICANN website points to a login screen hosted on Anchovy.com.

As far as I know they’re not the first law firm to get accredited. There have been a couple of others in the past.

@Michele: I was wondering about that, thanks for pointing this out. I took a brief review of the accredited lists, but wasn’t able to identify any law firms that I knew. Thanks.

I know Ladas & Parry say they are one, but I don’t know if they are using a reseller relationship or if they hold their own accreditation.

Ladas Domains is ICANN-accredited and has served the trademark community since 2004. WTR listed Ladas Domains as a top-5 domain registrar in their June/July 2010 issue, so it’s interesting that they incorrectly published this information.
