Petition against Snowe Bill
As we reported earlier, the proposed Snowe Bill against phishing could also be used to restrict rights of domain registrars. As reported on several forums and blogs, there now is a petition against the passing of the bill. The bill includes provisions that would make it easier for businesses to take generic domains away from their current owners and could potentially prohibit US based registrars from providing whois privacy services. More information also is available on the website of the Internet Commerce Association.
