Rick Schwartz partners with Gigya to launch Widgets.com

by Frank Michlick in Categories: Up to the Minute

Rick Schwartz, also know as the “DomainKing” has partnered with Gigya and launched a website for Widgets.com. Rick had previously tried to sell the domain name in an eBay auction. The site serves as a widget directory to promote Gigya’s Wildfire product, which was created to make it easier for users to install widgets across 60 different platforms, such as blogs, social media sites, start pages and desktop applications. Wildfire reaches over 180 million unique widget viewers worldwide and tracks billions of widget impressions each month. The details of the partnership were not published.

Honestly, I think it is a great name, a great partnership, and a great place to put it to great use.

Did I say Great enough?

Seriously, it makes no sense to try to make a run with it as a lone ranger.

Rick is shrewd and knows where to go. Better yet, most usually end up coming to him.

And I would imagine that the ebay sale got exactly what he was after – unprecedented and free exposure.

Pretty weak site — would have been good to see much more done with such a great domain name.

It’s a great name – but that site is pitiful. I hope they are working on something better in the meantime.

didn’t he write about this along time ago saying this partnership could bring in millions of dollars? In this form, I don’t see it.

Great name. Brutal site… but as with all good domains, I’m sure that over time it will be developed properly.

This is the same exact setup that was rolled out when the previous big multi-million dollar announcement was announced or something..

Absolutely no changes to the site whatsoever.

Whoever is in charge of this partnership and making it work has dropped the ball big time.

Hmm, it will be interesting to see what kind of changes they make to potentially monetize this a little better…
