Sex.com set to sell for $13MM USD

by Frank Michlick in Categories: Domain Sales, Up to the Minute

According to The Register, the domain name Sex.com has sold for $13 million USD to “Clover Holdings”, which put forward the highest bid amongst the 12 bidders. The buyer is “based on the Caribbean island of Saint Vincent, and the email address listed in court documents is @hushmail.com, the privacy-conscious webmail service“.

The deal [ed. brokered by Sedo] is subject to bankruptcy court approval. Escom sought a hearing on an accelerated timetable, which was granted yesterday. The hearing will be held next Wednesday, 27 October.

Should the deal fall through the domain name may still go to public auction.

I am glad that the domain was sold at that price. After all, the owner desearves some good price for such one of the best domains on the planet.

It might gone for that much but I don’t think this name worth that much. You can see there is no site running at sex.com it is redirecting to another address. What ever porn industry can afford such high price.

It is a premium domain but don’t have a proper website. It is not in google index as well. It must be around 1000-10000$ not more than this….
