>Do you think that Dell.tc ever see any traffic? I dont think so but they have to own this domain to prevent others >passing off as them and trading on there trademark -

No they DON'T have to own it to prevent others passing them off and trading on their traffic. "Dell" isn't just a TM, it's also a geographic feature. Look it up in a dictionary, sparky.

If someone else was to register dell.tc all it takes is a letter warning the person of their TM and asking them not to do anything that might be construed as infringement. All this "you have to own your TM in every TLD" bullshit is registrar generated hype.

In response to the first post: "No, we really don't need more extensions." This issue with ICANN has many layers and symbolizes problems not only with their ill-conceived proposals, but also a tendency of ICANN to resist common sense approaches. The opposition to the gTLD proposal is profound and widespread, and for good reason. The proposal is riddled with numerous problems that will result in damage to private corporations, to individual domain name registrants, as well as to the organization and integrity of the internet itself.

A huge number of companies, government agencies, and stakeholders have spoken clearly and convincingly. Let's now see how receptive ICANN are to a majority consensus. Or could they really be as pompous and self-serving as we fear?

Do we really need more ext?

Look at what we have got - Hundreds of available ext.

I believe that most companies and organzation own a domain name - Not all but most.

They are most likely happy with there domain ext and wont buy another ext as these dont see as a business opportunity - The only reason they shall buy that domain is to protect there brand and business apart from that there is no need for them to own this domain.

Do you think that Dell.tc ever see any traffic? I dont think so but they have to own this domain to prevent others passing off as them and trading on there trademark - Simple way to elimnate the problem no new ext - no more court cases and bad light for our beautiful domain industy.

Regards,
